Success Philosophies and Principles...Part II

Hi there! It took me almost a year to complete this two-part series. Major major things happened to me. I am just so happy I am now posting this second half of Jim Rohn's Success Philosophies and Principles.

Success Philosophies and Principles...Part II

"The LAW of SOWING AND REAPING"

There's a story from the Bible - The parable of the Sower. In the story there is a sower, he was an ambitious sower and he has excellent seed (an excellent idea, an excellent opportunity).

While he was sowing, some of the seeds fell on the way side and there birds get it. Note: the birds are going to get some of the seeds. You can either chase the bird, but you would leave the field...or just comment...ISN'T THAT INTERESTING! ITS JUST THE WAY IT IS! The sower KEPT ON SOWING! If you keep sowing, you can sow more seeds than the birds can get because there are not enough birds. The LAW OF AVERAGES will work for you.

Some of the seeds fell on rocky ground where the soil is shallow (and not of your making) - seeds start to grow, the first hot day, it withered... the hot weather is going to get some. This is not of your making. Just keep on sowing! SOME DON'T STAY... Learn how to Discipline your Disappointment.

Some of the seeds fell on thorny ground - the thorns are going to get some. People who let little things cheat them out of big opportunities.

Some of the seeds fell on good ground (IT ALWAYS WILL)- some did 30%, 50%, 100%. Let the 30s do 30s, 50s do 50s…

Philosophies that I CAN DO IT
1. Getting a customer - Making a sale - sharing

2. Recruiting - Sponsoring
Find a way to serve the many … service to many leads to greatness
If you help enough people to get what they want, you can have what you want

3. Organizing - People to work together. Everything magic is challenging
Best challenge: LETS GO DO IT
Shared Testimonial is powerful

4. Promotion - major / small recognition
Rewarding People for making small steps

5. Communication - conduct a meeting - I DID IT AGAIN
How to affect other people with words - DON’T BE LAZY IN LANGUAGE
TRAIN - how the business works
TEACH - how life works (leadership, set goals, ability to inspire)

6. Build an organization
Respond to those who deserve it not to those who need it
Teach people how to deserve your time/attention
You can help a thousand but you cannot carry 3 on your back
You cannot change people but they can change themselves

CAPITAL in your business isn't what matters… It's your SKILLS that buy you a future

BUY and SELL --- or --- SELL and BUY

The greatest value in life is LIVING A GOOD LIFE

1. Productivity - if you don’t produce you won't be happy

2. Good friends - the greatest support in the world is good friends

3. Spirituality - study-practice-teach whatever is valuable to you

4. Don't miss anything - If you live well, you will earn well

5. Inner Circle - take care of them, they'll take care of you

6. Ask for God's help

7. We have a chance as human beings to participate in the miracle process - Changing somebody's lifejavascript:void(0)

I love Jim Rohn's message: "I wish for you a life of wealth, health and happiness; a life in which you give to yourself the gift of patience, the virtue of reason and the value of knowledge." He will surely be missed....

Insulin

I have finally given in. I don't understand why even if I eat the same foods in the same amounts, my sugar keeps on fluctuating. I guess it's really time to take a little dose of insulin for my baby.

Insulin: A natural hormone made by the pancreas that controls the level of the sugar glucose in the blood. Insulin permits cells to use glucose for energy. Cells cannot utilize glucose without insulin.

Diabetes: The failure to make insulin or to respond to it constitutes diabetes mellitus. Insulin is made specifically by the beta cells in the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas. If the beta cells degenerate so the body cannot make enough insulin on its own, type I diabetes results. A person with this type of diabetes must inject exogenous insulin (insulin from sources outside the body).

Yesterday, I have started monitoring my sugar every meal using my own glucometer. hehe. And this morning I have stated using ballpen type insulin. I think I messed with my first shot. hehe. It's ok, my sugar level is still within limits. hehe

Diabetes Diet

One of the challenges I face right now is to follow a low-fat, low-salt diet to control my Gestational Diabetes. Plus the high-protein, high-fiber diet I need for my baby... sooooo easy! hehehe

Anyway, I need to constantly check on food I take versus "restricted food list" from my Endocrinologist. :)

I found below info very useful. Might as well share this so others may benefit as well...

Glucose Control - Diabetic Diet

If you've been diagnosed with diabetes, your doctor has probably mentioned that you should pay careful attention to nutrition and diet as part of your treatment program. Nutrition experts say that there is no one diet for diabetes, but people with diabetes should follow the nutrition guidelines in the Food Pyramid, while paying special attention to carbohydrate intake. People with diabetes should also eat about the same amount of food at the same time each day to keep blood sugar levels stable.

Getting Started With Nutrition Treatment

If you've never attempted to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet before your diabetes diagnosis, it can be difficult to know where to get started. Try these tips from the American Dietetic Association:

* Eat more starches such as bread, cereal, and starchy vegetables. Aim for six servings a day or more. For example, have cold cereal with nonfat milk or a bagel with a teaspoon of jelly for breakfast. Another starch-adding strategy is to add cooked black beans, corn or garbanzo beans to salads or casseroles.

* Eat five fruits and vegetables every day. Have a piece of fruit or two as a snack, or add vegetables to chili, stir-fried dishes or stews. You can also pack raw vegetables for lunch or snacks.

* Eat sugars and sweets in moderation. Include your favorite sweets in your diet once or twice a week at most. Split a dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth while reducing the sugar, fat and calories.

Gestational Diabetes

I am one of those pregnant women who acquired Gestational Diabetes. I have been reading a lot because I am very concerned on its effect on me and on the baby. I found this helpful information and wish to share with you.

It's not enough to get pregnant, it's critical to have healthy pregnancy and safe delivery...

What is gestational diabetes?

Gestational diabetes is diabetes that is found for the first time when a woman is pregnant.
Gestational (jes-TAY-shun-ul) diabetes is diabetes that is found for the first time when a woman is pregnant. Out of every 100 pregnant women in the United States, three to eight get gestational diabetes. Diabetes means that your blood glucose (also called blood sugar) is too high. Your body uses glucose for energy. But too much glucose in your blood can be harmful. When you are pregnant, too much glucose is not good for your baby.
This booklet is for women with gestational diabetes. If you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes and are considering pregnancy, call the National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse at 1–800–860–8747 for more information and consult your health care team before you get pregnant.

Following are the things discussed about Gestational Diabetes. I suggest you follow the link below to read more about it...

# What causes gestational diabetes?
# What is my risk of gestational diabetes?
# When will I be checked for gestational diabetes?
# How is gestational diabetes diagnosed?
# How will gestational diabetes affect my baby?
# How will gestational diabetes affect me?
# How is gestational diabetes treated?
# How will I know whether my blood glucose levels are on target?
# Will I need to do other tests on my own?

Some Facts about Fruits

Here are some facts I gathered via email. Happy to share... :)

KIWI: Tiny but mighty.

This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, Vitamin E & fiber. Its Vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away?

Although an apple has a low Vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of Vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit.

Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessels-clogging free
radicals.

ORANGE: Sweetest medicine.

Taking 2 -4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.

WATERMELON: Coolest Thirst Quencher

Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene - the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are Vitamin C & Potassium.

GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for Vitamin C.

They are the clear winners for their high Vitamin C content. Guava is Also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes.

What is the correct way of eating fruits?

This is something that has been passed on several times in emails... I thought, why not share it here? For those who have not seen this yet, please read on and validate if there is any truth in it.

Subject: EATING FRUITS

We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It's not so easy as you think. It's important to know how and when to eat.

What is the correct way of eating fruits?
* IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS!
* FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.

If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD.

Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.

In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil.

So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complaining - every time I eat water-melon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat banana I feel like running to the toilet etc - actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will not happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.

There is no such thing as some fruits like orange and lemon are acidic because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did a research on this matter.

If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice - drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT From the cans. Don't even drink juice that has been heated up. Don't eat Cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste.

Cooking destroys all the vitamins.

But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you Should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must Let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it.

You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body.

Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will Be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!

Dr Ray Strand's Health Nuggets on the importance of fishoil or Omega Fatty Acid

I want to share the information I received a while back from our friends from Malaysia.

Health Update
by Dr Eugene Chen & Amy Tan

Why take Biomega?

Dear team,

In the course of our USANA business, we were often asked , "which USANA products to recommend or consume first?" The answer is ESSENTIALS. But there is a good reason to add Proflavanol and Biomega. Today we will share Dr Ray Strand's Health Nuggets on the importance of fishoil or Omega Fatty Acid:

"These Swiss investigators reviewed 97 randomized, controlled clinical trials, which involved over 275,000 subjects. They looked at comparing the reduction in cardiovascular deaths between individuals who were taking the lipid lowering drugs called statins, those who consumed higher doses of omega-3 fatty acids, and a controlled group or placebo group. The statin group reduced cardiovascular deaths by 22%, while the omega-3 fatty acid group decreased cardiovascular disease by 32%. Statin drugs reduced overall mortality by 13%; however, the omega-3 fatty acid group reduced overall mortality by 23%. These were significant findings and brought up the fact that supplementing your diet with high-quality omega-3 fatty acids from pharmaceutical-grade filtered fish oil was more effective than the expensive statin drugs when it came to cardiovascular death and overall mortality.

Now statin drugs have been shown to decrease inflammation and part of their clinical effectiveness is due to this aspect of these drugs. So researchers are not sure if it is the lowering of cholesterol or the anti-inflammatory aspect of these drugs that provide their health benefits. However, omega-3 fats are the building blocks of the body’s natural anti-inflammatories. In fact, supplemental intake of the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA found in filtered fish oil has been shown to significantly decrease inflammation throughout the body, including our arteries. They also do not have the adverse side effects that the statin drugs have.

Studer M, Briel M, et al. “Effect of different antilipidemic agents and diet on mortality: a systematic review.” Archives of Internal Medicine, 2005 April 11;165(7):725-30"
---------

The above underscore the huge importance of regularly and consistently consuming and recommending BIOMEGA. Even for children and elderly. If you have any further questions on the above, you can email us.

Warm regards
Eugene and Amy

SIGNS OF OVARIAN CANCER

I received this email from a friend, and although I have not verified this, I would like to share it as well. Read and decide for yourself if this is worthwhile looking at...

SIGNS OF OVARIAN CANCER
(Men, please share this with your wives, sisters and friends)
(Even In The Absence Of Ovaries)
An Eye-Opener On Ovarian Cancer

THIS IS A MUST TO READ TO THE END

I hope you all take the time to read this and pass it on to all you can. Send this to the women in your life that you care about....
Years ago, Gilda Radner died of ovarian cancer. Her symptoms were inconclusive, and she was treated for everything under the sun until it was too late. This blood test finally identified her illness but alas, too late.. She wrote a book to heighten awareness. Gene Wilder is her widower..

Kathy's Story: this is the story of Kathy West

As all of you know, I have Primary Peritoneal Cancer. This cancer has only recently been identified as its OWN type of cancer, but it is essentially Ovarian Cancer.

Both types of cancer are diagnosed in the same way, with the 'tumor marker' CA-125 BLOOD TEST, and they are treated in the same way - surgery to remove the primary tumor and then chemotherapy with Taxol and Carboplatin. .

Having gone through this ordeal, I want to save others from the same fate That is why I am sending this message to you and hope you will print it and give it or send it via E-mail to everybody you know.

One thing I have learned is that each of us must take TOTAL responsibility for our own health care. I thought I had done that because I always had an annual physical and PAP smear, did a monthly Self-Breast Exam, went to the dentist at least twice a year, etc. I even insisted on a sigmoidoscopy and a bone density test last year. When I had a total hysterectomy in 1993, I thought that I did not have to worry about getting any of the female reproductive organ cancers.

LITTLE DID I KNOW. I don't have ovaries (and they were HEALTHY when they were removed), but I have what is essentially ovarian cancer. Strange, isn't it?

These are just SOME of the things our Doctors never tell us: ONE out of every 55 women will get OVARIAN or PRIMARY PERITONEAL CANCER.....

The 'CLASSIC' symptoms are an ABDOMEN that rather SUDDENLY ENLARGES and CONSTIPATION and/or DIARRHEA ....

I had these classic symptoms and went to the doctor.. Because these symptoms seemed to be 'abdominal', I went to a gastroenterologist. He ran tests that were designed to determine whether there was a bacteria infection; these tests were negative, and I was diagnosed with 'Irritable Bowel Syndrome'. I guess I would have accepted this diagnosis had it not been for my enlarged abdomen. I swear to you, it looked like I was 4-5 months pregnant! I therefore insisted on more tests

They took an X-ray of my abdomen; it was negative. I was again assured that I had Irritable Bowel Syndrome and was encouraged to go on my scheduled month-long trip to Europe . I couldn't wear any of my slacks or shorts because I couldn't get them buttoned, and I KNEW something was radically wrong. I INSISTED on more tests, and they reluctantly) scheduled me for a CT-Scan (just to shut me up, I think). This is what I mean by 'taking charge of our own health care.'

The CT-Scan showed a lot of fluid in my abdomen (NOT normal). Needless to say, I had to cancel my trip and have FIVE POUNDS of fluid drawn off at the hospital (not a pleasant experience I assure you), but NOTHING compared to what was ahead of me.

Tests revealed cancer cells in the fluid. Finally, finally, finally, the doctor ran a CA-125 blood test, and I was properly diagnosed.

I HAD THE CLASSIC SYMPTOMS FOR OVARIAN CANCER, AND YET THIS SIMPLE CA-125 BLOOD TEST HAD NEVER BEEN RUN ON ME, not as part of my annual physical exam and not when I was symptomatic. This is an inexpensive and simple blood test!

PLEASE, PLEASE TELL ALL YOUR FEMALE FRIENDS AND RELATIVES TO INSIST ON A CA-125 BLOOD TEST EVERY YEAR AS PART OF THEIR ANNUAL PHYSICAL EXAMS.

Be fore warned that their doctors might try to talk them out of it, saying, 'IT ISN'T NECESSARY.' Believe me, had I known then what I know now, we would have caught my cancer much earlier (before it was a stage 3 cancer). Insist on the CA-125 BLOOD TEST; DO NOT take 'NO' for an answer!

The normal range for a CA-125 BLOOD TEST is between zero and 35. MINE WAS 754. (That's right, 754!). If the number is slightly above 35, you can have another done in three or six months and keep a close eye on it, just as women do when they have fibroid tumors or when men have a slightly elevated PSA test (Prostatic Specific Antigens) that helps diagnose prostate cancer.

Having the CA-125 test done annually can alert you early, and that's the goal in diagnosing any type of cancer - catching it early..

Do you know 55 women? If so, at least one of them will have this VERY AGGRESSIVE cancer. Please, go to your doctor and insist on a CA-125 test and have one EVERY YEAR for the rest of your life.

And forward this message to every woman you know, and tell all of your female family members and friends. Though the median age for this cancer is 56, (and, guess what, I'm exactly 56, women as young as 22 have it. Age is no factor.

A NOTE FROM THE RN:

Well , after reading this, I made some calls. I found that the CA-125 test is an ovarian screening test equivalent to a man's PSA test prostate screen (which my husband's doctor automatically gives him in his physical each year and insurance pays for it). I called the general practitioner' s office about having the test done. The nurse had never heard of it. She told me that she doubted that insurance would pay for it. So I called Prudential Insurance Co, and got the same response. Never heard of it - it won't be covered. I explained that it was the same as the PSA test they had paid for my husband for years. After conferring with whomever they confer with, she told me that the CA-125 would be covered.

It is $75 in a GP's office and $125 at the GYN's. This is a screening test that should be required just like a PAP smear (a PAP smear cannot detect problems with your ovaries). And you must insist that your insurance company pay for it.

Gene Wilder and Pierce Brosnan (his wife had it, too) are lobbying for women's health issues, saying that this test should be required in our physicals, just like the PAP and the mammogram. PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO SEND THIS OUT TO ALL THOSE YOU CAN. BE IT MALE OR FEMALE, IT SHOULD NOT MATTER, AS THEY CAN FORWARD IT ALSO TO THOSE LOVED ONES THEY KNOW.
